Vibram Five Finger Shoes

In preparation for my trip to Yellowstone, I went to buy a Sigg .6 ounce water bottle tonight and to try on these shoes. I thought they would be great for hiking/getting wet and I had wondered about them since first finding the website last year. An article titled "You Walk Wrong" in New York Magazine about going barefoot earlier this Spring further piqued my interest. The trip was the perfect excuse for the expense.

Alas! My feet aren't quite right for them. The toes are too short in the 37 and the foot is too long in the 38. They are very light and flexible. I think they would be great if you like going barefoot and they fit your feet, but I'm not going to lie. The toes part is a little strange; it feels like having the little pieces of paper or foam between your toes for a pedicure and it is hard to get your toes in the right spots. Over time though I bet they'd feel all natural.

At least I managed to find a plain silver version of the Sigg bottle. :) That way Jaime and I won't get ours mixed up. Now I just need the belt clip, so I can hang it on me instead of grasping it.

I think you got a larger than 6 ounce. Would you perhaps be interested in a knitted cozy to prevent your bottle from sweating on you? I will promise to try to get it to you in time for your trip!

Those shoes look cool. Mike suggests these; I call them his ugly shoes because they are pretty hideous. BUT they are good for gripping trails and your feet don't get too hot, plus they dry quickly. Maybe you could get them for the trip then never wear them again except for hiking. And we won't tell anyone you have them.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure dropping the Sigg bottle on your foot would be the worst idea ever. OUCH.

The knitted bottle cover could be sweet. Right now it is outfitted in a fox arm band from fan night.

Tevas scare me. Plus, they leave the toes exposed. I'll think about them. For now, I'm just settling for my tennis shoes.

Interesting article and those shoes look like gloves for feet! Are you excited to hike? How long are you going for? And where?

They basically are like gloves for your feet. I wish I could wear them. I think they are very cool and we all know I like going barefoot!!

I'll post about Yellowstone in its own post. :)

And you thought the first pair were ugly...

What a shame! The same thing happened to my wife. I've got a pair I love, but she can't find any to fit.
