Laser Hair Removal

I feel like we should move this out of Vika's special post on being engaged, so I am transferring everything here.

"Right now I have a laser hair removal appointment Friday afternoon and that is about it. I will go to ballet Thursday night though..."

Vika: Wait, what is this about laser removal???

Sarah: Impulsive, self-indulgent and actually semi-regretted decision a while ago. It is how I used my tax refunds/stimulus check...

Vika: OMG! I want laser hair removal. Where are you getting it? You don't like it?

Sarah: Where I always said I would bikini. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've only gone twice... It is expensive. I'm concerned about a whole collection of issues in that area now, so I wonder about the wise-ness of having that done. I didn't even ask how they cleaned things to make them sanitary. I don't know.

Chessa: Anyway... Sarah, I'm in the middle of my laser hair removal too (taking off the summer just in case I get a hint of a tan, which probably won't happen), and for the most part I'm pleased with it, except I feel like I had a big result after the first treatment, and not a big one after the second treatment, and now since I'm takinga few months off, its growing back just as fast as before, and maybe just a little bit thinner.

HOWEVER... my mom pretty much has done her entire body (legs, underarms, biking line), and she's super happy with the results. I'm jealous at how smooth her legs are.

Jaime: I'm pretty sure lasers heat up everything so they're sanitized...Chessa's had that done, you may want to ask her.

Sarah: I must have been embarrassed about purchasing that if I didn't tell either of you... Maybe I'll ask Chessa. Just don't feel like I know her that well.

Jaime: Mike's mom says that she has naturally hair-free, super smooth legs because she's Asian. I think she's lying. *squints eyes in envy*

Sarah: I think some people do have hair free legs/other parts, but I don't think it has to do with nationality specifically.

I've gone twice Chessa and the "results" are spotty. It is definitely growing back thinner though still growing back. In spite of a mild tan, I am still going in next week for my third treatment. Not looking forward to it.

It basically feels like an electric shock - and when that happened once as a child with a light socket I didn't like it.

Jaime: Wow that sounds like sooo much fun.

I did something similar- there was an electric fence by my babysitter's house, and my babysitter's daughter told me to touch it with my finger. Instead of tapping it I hooked my finger on it because I didn't know any better...she had to pull me off of it. Still remember the feeling.

I think nationalities do have something to do with it; I mean some types of people are hairier than others...insert inappropriate joke here. Email me if you want to hear it!

Sarah: Yeah. Not particularly fun.

I think nationality has some effect, but it isn't the only thing. :)

Chessa: Sarah... I went in for a bikini line treatment and SHE DID THE WHOLE THING. I didn't stop her b/c I figure it would at least thin it out.

I've never been in so much pain in my life. It was worse than a brazillian wax

Vika:Did anyone stick scissors into an outlet? Just wondering...

Jaime: Wondering if we're retarded or if there's something else that explains our strange behavior? lol.

Vika: Haha, something like that :)

See. I am basically getting the whole thing done and HOLY HECK it hurts. I think I wouldn't be so skeptical if it was just normal bikini...

My shock came from turning on Christmas Candles in our windows when I was little. The current traveled up through the bulb. It really hurt.

This is very organized. Thank you. I still want to get rid of all my bikini, under arm and leg hair... We'll see. I think Kimberly did it, and she seemed pretty happy last I heard, no?

If I have more money at some point, I'll probably do underarms. Legs aren't so bad at this point, although annoying.

Kim had a much better deal than I did. Don't know what is up w/ that. Her WHOLE deal, which yes she loves, cost only a bit more than my one region. *grimace* I didn't feel comfortable asking her how much she paid in advance and I should have.

Are you getting it done at the same place as her?

Yes, nice transfer of posts.

Don't be uncomfortable asking people what they pay for certain services. As long as you do it tastefully and they know you want to know so you can make a good decision, it's fine. And if not, who cares?

Yay. I feel so accomplished. ;) One day I'll post the LifeGems conversation that started this all.

Yep, LaserCosmetica - same location and everything.

3rd appointment today AND OUCH. They definitely turned up the intensity and I made the mistake of shaving this morning, which might have amped things up. I was SHAKING when it was done. Not looking forward to trip 4. Wonder if this is worth it...

Why would you shave first? Don't they need to see the hairs and wouldn't that make your skin more sensitive? Did you take advil or some kind of painkiller before your appointment?

Sarah said...

Nope. The hair has to be gone wherever they are treating... Yep, I took an 8 hour tylenol. I might have to get numbing cream before the next one, but I heard their version didn't work too well from Kimberly. It isn't so bad on the outer areas, but each time they turn up the current.
