Good Indian restaurant

Anyone know of a good Indian restaurant in NYC? S, I was going to suggest the one we went to but it's too loud, no drinks and not the best for conversation.

I can urbanspoon it! Where would you like to be? And what price?

How about Ghandi Cafe on Bleeker? $

Or Tabla on Madison Ave? $$$

Btw, do you have something against tagging your posts?

Aside from subject matter, I also like to tag mine with my name in case I ever need to refer to something I wrote...

No, I just forget. The window I blog in is small (and hopefully discreet) so I don't see where it says to tag.

I love how you jumped at it! I'm looking for $$ or $$$ that serves alcohol...neighborhood doesn't matter so much. Mike has friends in from LA.

Any opportunity to use my new iPhone apps!

Okay. Here are some more:

Lassi on 28 Greenwich Ave $$
Baluchi's on 193 Spring St $$
Chola on 232 E 58th $$
Tamarind on 41 E 22nd $$$
Earth NYC on 116A 10th Ave $$$

I've been to a Tamarind up near my apartment. It was pretty good...not outstanding. The one in Flatiron that V mentioned appears to be different and nicer.

I don't know of great upscale-ish places for that... I want to go to two that V mentioned: Tabla. and Lassi, which I seem to remember being tiny.

Apparently now Mike doesn't want $$$. So I'm thinking of Saravanaas and Tiffin Wallah.

P.S. I usually ask for advice then don't follow it. It's normal for me, so pls don't be offended.

Haha, no problem. Good luck!

How did it go? Where did you end up?

I met Mike at the apt. at which his friend & his friend's gf was staying on 28th & 3rd.

On the way I passed by Tiffin Wallah and it looked too casual and not at all what we wanted.

We walked to Saravanaas and went in. It was a vegetarian place, which I thought was a little obvious bc a lot of Indians are vegetarians and I had sent Mike the link, but apparently it was a crucial detail that I overlooked.

We ended up at Curry Leaf. We had the Mixed Vegetable Pakoras and the Meat Samosas for appetizers. Mike had the Chicken Vandaloo, (not on the online menut)his friend Andrew had the Chicken Tiki Masala, and his gf Cat had the Baingen Bhurta. We also got Garlic and plain Naan.

Mine was mild but good, and Cat's was excellent. I'm going to have to try that dish again. They also gave us Kheer for dessert, which I slurped up super quick AND ate Mike's. :) The atmosphere was OK, a little bright, not too crowded, served beer and wine. I would go again.

As for the entire evening, well, the food was better than the company. :)

Sounds like a good place to eat if I could remember the name of that yummy dish (whatever it is...)!

Or as interesting or funny or intelligent...Apparently my standards are high for female friends and she just reminded me of a freshman in college that I wouldn't waste the time of day on. Love you guys!
