This is totally awesome! Normal ice cream scoops are barely any help, plus the cheap ones always bend back when you try to scoop it out and it's too hard. This is genius!

Weeeeird! It is hard to find a quality scoop. I have a pretty decent one from cuisinart, but you have to really scoop it a few times to get a full scoop of ice cream. My parents have a great one with a lever that shoves the ice cream out, but I'm sure it's from the 1950's or something.
They still sell those! I'll try to find a link when I'm on my computer. They still hurt my hands though. This seems like it might solve that problem...
Novel concept, but I would miss the round shape!
Here is an article testing some different scoops from the LA Times. It features one with a lever.
Neat article. Anyway, I bet it'd be possible to retain the round shape without giving up the technology... at least on the top anyway...
I'll let you test it and tell us about it. I was basing my opinion on the pictured "scoop."
I'm totally craving Breyer's Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream now. Can I have a job where I get to test ice cream scoops? I'll take a pic of my parent's next time I'm home.
