Need Help - Need Mac 08 Office

So i've been trying to figure out what is the best thing to get for my 2005 Powerbook (Mac). My computer crashed about a year ago and the Mac people were able to salvage my computer but I lost all of my programs and since then I haven't had, a much needed, Microsoft Office. Now the dilemna on top of that is that I'm worried about getting the new, up-t0-date, software that may not be compatible with my current computer/system.

Does anyone have any insite on what to buy?

I did find this one article, but it just confuses me more

Ok so you have a Power PC Mac, right? I think I have Microsoft Office software somewhere...I have to check.
But you can use Open Office or Google Docs, both of which are Microsoft Office compatible programs.
Welcome to Sand! lol.

I know nothing about Macs. Sorry! But I think V likes Open Office. I feel like we discussed it on here at some point?

I don't have much of an experience with macs, but even if you lost the programs but still have the serial numbers you can just re-install.

Open Office is okay. I use MS Office 2007 and the formatting options on that are amazing. However, Open Office is good for typing documents and whatnot. Slightly different layout, but you get used to it. And of course, it's free. Everyone loves free.

Welcome to sand friends!
